Huurrek B.V. (hereafter called “Huurrek”), the legal entity registered at Hoge Zand 39, Unit 1.01, 2512EL, The Hague, The Netherlands, is responsible for the processing of personal data as explained in this privacy statement.
1. Personal data processed by us
Huurrek processes your personal data because you use our services and provide the data to us yourself. Below you will find an overview of the categories of personal data that we process:
- first and last name,
- address data,
- phone number,
- e-mail address,
- IP address,
- Internet browser and device type,
- bank account number.
2. Special and/or sensitive personal data processed by us
Our website and services do not intend to collect data from people who are under 16 years of age, unless they have consent from a parent or legal guardian. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is older than 16. We therefore recommend that parents or legal guardians be involved in their children's online activities in order to avoid collecting data about minors without parental consent. If you believe that we have collected personal information about a minor without such consent, please contact us at support@huurrek.com and we will delete this information.
3. Purpose and basis for processing of personal data
Huurrek processes your personal data for the following purposes:
- handling your payments,
- e-mailing you if this is necessary to be able to carry out our services,
- informing you about changes to our services,
- to offer you the possibility to create an account,
- to deliver services to you,
- to analyze your behavior on the website in order to improve the website and tailor the supply of services to your preferences,
- to processes personal data if we are legally obliged to do so, such as data we need for maintaining our business records and preparing our tax return.
4. Retention periods for personal data
Huurrek does not retain your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to realize the purposes for which your data are collected. We use the following retention periods for the following categories of personal data:
- IP address, Internet browser, and device type — 2 years since the visit of the website,
- all other categories of data — as long as the associated customer account is open with Huurrek plus 7 years to satisfy the legal requirements to keeping business records.
5. Sharing personal data with third parties
Huurrek only provides data to third parties if and only if that is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Huurrek only uses technical and functional cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone the first time you visit this website. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical operation of the website and your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and, for example, to remember your preferences. They also allow us to optimize our website. You can opt out of cookies by setting your Internet browser so that it no longer stores cookies. In addition, you can also delete any information previously stored via your browser settings.
7. Viewing, correcting, or deleting data
You have the right to view, correct, or delete your personal data. You have the right to withdraw your consent to data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by Huurrek. You also have the right to data portability. It means that you can submit a written request to us so that we send the personal data that we hold about you in a computer file to you or another organization named by you.
You can send us an e-mail to support@huurrek.com with subject “GDPR request”, containing a request for inspection, correction, deletion, or transfer of your personal data, or a request to withdraw your consent, or a request to object to the processing of your personal data. To make sure that the request for inspection is made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your proof of identity with the request. In this copy, black out your passport photo, machine readable zone (MRZ, the strip of numbers at the bottom of the passport or identity document), passport number, and Citizen Service Number (BSN). That is necessary to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but within four weeks for properly submitted requests. Requests that do not satisfy the requirements set herein may incur additional processing time.
8. Measures to secure personal data
Huurrek takes protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent its abuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized modification. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of abuse, please contact our customer service via an e-mail to abuse@huurrek.com.
Huurrek has implemented the following measures to secure your personal data:
- Security software that provides authentication, authorization, and firewall capabilities.
- TLS, also known as SSL, to provide secure Internet connections. You can tell that by the website address starting with “https://” and the padlock icon appearing in your browser’s address bar.
- DKIM, SPF, and DMARC to verify authenticity of e-mails sent on behalf of Huurrek.
